pass down (to) = truyền lại (cho thế hệ sau): người dân truyền kỹ thuật dệt truyền thống cho thế hệ sau. live on = sống nhờ vào, close down = đóng cửa, face up to = đối mặt với.

Câu 2 — Đáp án: A

Rạp chiếu phim, khu ẩm thực, phòng tập là các tiện ích ⇒ amenities (tiện nghi, tiện ích). congestions = sự tắc nghẽn, traditions = truyền thống, garbage = rác.

Câu 3 — Đáp án: B

suffer from + trạng thái tiêu cực; chịu quá nhiều áp lực ⇒ anxiety (sự lo âu). delight, happiness, confidence đều mang nghĩa tích cực.

Câu 4 — Đáp án: B

Người lái máy bay (fly planes) cho hãng hàng không ⇒ pilot (phi công). mechanic = thợ máy, surgeon = bác sĩ phẫu thuật, farmer = nông dân.

Hai vế tương phản (trời rất lạnh nhưng nông dân vẫn ra đồng), đứng sau dấu chấm phẩy và trước dấu phẩy ⇒ trạng từ liên kết however. therefore chỉ kết quả; because/although là liên từ, không đứng giữa "; … ,".

Câu 12 — Đáp án: B

Đại từ quan hệ thay cho danh từ chỉ người The woman và làm chủ ngữ của gave ⇒ who. whom chỉ làm tân ngữ, which dùng cho vật, whose chỉ sở hữu.

PHẦN B: READING (4.0 điểm)

Câu 13 — Đáp án: B

Biển vàng vẽ người lớn dắt trẻ em đi trên vạch kẻ đường (vạch ngựa vằn) là biển báo có người đi bộ qua đường phía trước ⇒ B. A, D trái nghĩa (biển không cấm đi bộ). Lưu ý: đáp án nguồn chọn C (School zone) — có lẽ vì hình trẻ em; nhưng hình vạch ngựa vằn là dấu hiệu của chỗ qua đường, nên CenStu chọn B.

Câu 14 — Đáp án: B

Thông báo: "LIBRARY RULES: Please turn off your mobile phones" = nội quy thư viện yêu cầu tắt điện thoại ⇒ B (switch off = turn off). A, C trái với nội quy; D không liên quan.

Câu 15 — Đáp án: C

communicate with somebody = giao tiếp với ai ⇒ with.

Câu 16 — Đáp án: B

job opportunities = cơ hội việc làm; câu sau nói các công ty đa quốc gia cần nhân viên giỏi tiếng Anh. roads, streets là đường sá theo nghĩa đen; job ways không phải cụm từ.

Sau very cần tính từ; rewarding = đáng công, xứng đáng (với nỗ lực bỏ ra). reward/rewards là danh từ/động từ; rewarded (bị động/cảm nhận) không hợp với chủ ngữ the result.
